Son of Homer Franklin & Annie Gerina (SIZEMORE) GALLOPS - appears, aged 9 years, in his parent's 1920 census household. Married Wilene NIX (his second cousin: Lee's father Homer F. GALLOPS is first cousin to Wilene's mother Sallie C. (GALLOPS) NIX, who subsequently married STRINGFELLOW. Homer's father John W. GALLOPS was brother to Sallie's father, Charlie Caleb GALLOPS. Wilene / Willene / Wylene / Wyolene later married a BROWN.) Evidently Lee is the person listed as I. W. GALLOPS (1911-1949) in "Talbot County, Georgia, Cemetery Records," compiled by Robert E. Torbert, published 1987, p. 37 (survey conducted 1971).

Per Georgia Death Index: Lee GALLOPS, White male, died 11 OCT 1949, aged 39 years in Muscogee County, Georgia, as a resident of the same county, death certificate #22311.

"Lee GALLOPS, 38, Cusseta road, an employe of the Lummus Cotton Gin company, died last night at City hospital following a brief illness. // Mr. GALLOPS was born Oct. 13, 1910, in Chattahoochee county, Ga., the son of the late Homer GALLOPS and Annie SIZEMORE GALLOPS. He had lived in Columbus the past seven years. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. // Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Wyolene GALLOPS; a son, Bernard GALLOPS; two daughters, Miss Carolyn GALLOPS and Miss Myra GALLOPS, all of Columbus; three brothers, M. W. GALLOPS of Hilliard, Fla., H. S. GALLOPS and Melton GALLOPS, both of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. J. M. MORGAN, Buena Vista, and Mrs. Frances REDDICK, Columbus, and several nieces and nephews. // Funeral will be held at 3 p. m. tomorrow at Mt. Perryian [sic] Primitive [Baptist] church, with the Rev. Casey PHILLIPS, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the churchyard. // Pallbearers will be James DAVIS, Morris DAVIS, Marion JACKSON, James POPE, Bill FIELDS and James RENFROE."
