Horace "Jack" Crawford Day was a talented cowboy, like his father. At the 1913 Winnipeg Stampede, Horace performed rope tricks with popular American cowgirl Tillie Baldwin. Horace's father, Addison Perry Day, was the arena director at that event, which was viewed by 60,000 spectators.

Horace married Elizabeth "Betty" Guzey on October 16, 1943, in Rio de Janeiro, where Howard was working for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. Betty was formerly a resident of Mayfield, Pennsylvania. During WWII, Horace was the U.S. Representative for the Rubber Development Corp in Brazil. He also owned a chain of restaurants in Bogota, Columbia. Later, Horace and Betty returned to the USA and lived in Washington, D.C.

Horace's parents, who moved to Arizona in the 1930s, predeceased him. He was survived by his sister, Galena (Day) Coutchie, and his brother Addison Perry Day Jr. Funeral and interment held at Fairview Memorial Park.
