Jimmie was born on August 7, 1947, in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late Hugh P. "Buddy" Spears and Mary McBay Spears. He and his wife Trudy were married in New Haven, IN, then moved to Fort Wayne, IN. They later settled in Tyler, TX for 17 years. They were married for 26 years before she passed in 1995. Jimmie was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He loved leather work, customizing in canes and walking sticks. He was an avid hunter, a fisherman and loved collecting things. Jimmie was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy.
Survivors include his children, Rodney Spears (Kimberly) of Tyler, Texas and Barton Spears (Helene) of Senoia, Georgia; grandchildren, Megan, Dylan, Ashley (Andrew) and Eleonore; and sisters, Judy Berry and Pam Sims. Jimmie had a big family with countless aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mandeville Baptist Church or Tails of Hope Service Dogs.
