PICKENS, SC - Edwin McJunkin, 73, of 1508 Fox Squirrel Ridge Road, husband of Vernell Dodgens McJunkin, died Sunday, October 24, 2004, at his home.

Mr. McJunkin was born in Pickens, a son of the late Julius Ernest and Mary Keith McJunkin. He was retired from BASF and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. McJunkin was a member of Concord Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and Senior Men's Sunday School Teacher.

Surviving, other than his wife, of the home, are a son, Mickey McJunkin; a daughter, Janet Roper; a son-in-law, Tim Roper; and a granddaughter, Laura Roper, all of Liberty; a stepgrandson, Lance Roper, of Hickory Tavern; brothers, Lloyd McJunkin, of Rosman, North Carolina, and Weldon McJunkin of Pickens; and sisters, Faye Cathcart, of Pickens, and Betty Ross, of Six Mile.

Mr. McJunkin was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Roper; also five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home.
