In the words of his pastor, "Jonathan Milligan was my dude, my boy, my friend and like a son to me. I have been his pastor for a year, but our relationship goes back for many years. He loved God, he loved people, and was as genuine as they come. No airs put on for anyone. What you saw is what you got." He loved Melissa and their kids with everything in him. While he is gone from us, nothing will ever stop his spirit for his trust was in Jesus-the Resurrection and the Life.

No one enjoyed life more than Jonathan Milligan. All of us experienced the joy that Jonathan carried in his heart and spread to others with his smile, laughter, and playfulness. Joy is a short but powerful word. The joy of the Lord was Jonathan's strength. He sought opportunities to share that joy with everyone he met whether through his contagious smile, words of encouragement, or one of his favorite scriptures. He was always about his Father's business. Nothing brought more joy to Jonathan than seeing souls saved. That was his mission in life.

Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of our lives, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God is every situation. Jonathan would encourage each of us to remember that assurance.

Our forever smiling, Jonathan Matthew Milligan entered his Heavenly home on July 22, 2022. He was born July 7, 1981, the loving son of Donald Ray Milligan and Tammie Caulder Gibson of Scotland County. In his short life of 41 years, Jonathan made all he encountered feel special always sharing his love of Jesus. His parents were so proud of the man he became being a Godly, devoted and loving husband, father, and servant of Christ. He served the Lord as a faithful member of Northview Harvest Ministries loving every minute in his worship and playing drums with the Praise Team.

Jonathan worked with Nichols Propane where he truly enjoyed serving the customers of Scotland and surrounding counties. He helped others in need, formerly with the Laurinburg City Fire Department and assisting the Poole family with their wrecker service. Jonathan also enjoyed playing golf, working out, and above all, being with family and friends telling them about Jesus. His laughter and enthusiasm for life will truly be missed by his beautiful family, devoted friends and faith family.

Jonathan leaves behind his loving wife, Melissa Rasberry Milligan, son, Gabe and daughter, Bella of their home; his mama, Tammie Gibson (Whit ) of Laurinburg; father, Donald Milligan (Michelle) of Georgia; paternal grandmother, Lela "Midge" Milligan; his brother, Mike Milligan (Leigh Ana) of Norfolk, VA.; step brothers, Whitfield Gibson (Jennifer), Chris Gibson (Lyndsey), Rolando Castrejon (Karen); Emmanuel Castrejon (Nicole), and step sister, Alaina Baugh (Noah); mother-in-law, Joyce Lowery (Ward); father-in-law, Terry Rasberry (Geraldine); sister-in-law, Tracy Bethea (Anthony); step brothers-in-law, DJ Strickland and Justin Strickland; and former sister-in-law, Chris "Sis" Milligan; his nieces and nephews, Zach Milligan (Hailey), Grace Milligan, Paige Milligan, Cameron Bethea (Elise) and Christian Bethea (Deborah), Kevin Bethea (Brittany), Rosalee Castrejon, Alec Castrejon, Acacia Castrejon, Dominic Castrejon, Sebastian Castrejon; great nephews; Declan Bethea, Jackson Bethea, and Kam Bethea.
