She was born in Long Beach, California to Bill and Vera Sippel.
Vina played the cello during her school years, played in the All City Orchestra, at Poly High School where she graduated, and throughout her college years. She loved music, and attending Arrowbear Music Camp every summer, including the first camp in 1942. She married Benjamin F. (Frank) Woodland in 1949, and graduated from Whittier College in 1950. She taught kindergarten in Long Beach City schools before her family eventually moved to San Jose, and then to Carmichael, California. She was one of the original founders of the Little Methodist School in Fair Oaks; she taught kindergarten at Greenhills Elementary School in the Eureka Union School District in Granite Bay for 18 years. She retired in 1988 and continued to travel in their trailer with her husband, especially to the Southwest as they highly respected and appreciated Native American culture and art. Quilting was a significant part of her life, and her time with her quilting friends and guilds were very special to her. She won numerous awards for her fine quilt work and established strong friendships with many fellow quilters. Frank and Vina loved camping, traveling, garden railroads, and always attending theater, opera, music circus, and a variety of musical concerts throughout their life. In later years, she enjoyed traveling to many places abroad including Europe, the Mediterranean, Tahiti, and South America. Her family and friends will remember her kind heart and gracious spirit.
Vina was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and her sister Evelyn of Sun City, CA.
