He was born in Boston to the late William Murphy and the late Phyllis (St. Martin) Murphy. He served in the Air Force for many years. He loved Sunday services at Immanuel Baptist Church with his Christian brothers and sisters and where he also served as a Deacon. He enjoyed golfing, watching golf, playing blackjack, watching all the Boston sports teams with his son and Sunday dinners.
He is survived by Nancy (Irwin) Murphy, his son, Daniel Murphy and wife Tiffany, daughter, Kathleen (Murphy) Airhart and husband Charles, and grandchildren; Shelly Murphy, Derek Airhart, and Matt Airhart.
In accordance with his wishes, William will be cremated with burial to follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery on July 25th at 1:15pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his honor to either Wounded Warriors, the Salvation Army, or Homes for Vets.
