Von Braun's Father Dies
Oberaudorf, Germany
Magnus Freiherr von Braun, father of rocket wizard Wernher von Braun and a cabinet minister in the final days of the Weimar Republic, died in this upper Bavarian community Tuesday. He was 94.
The cause of death was not immediately known, but he had been confined to bed several weeks.
Von Braun was named minister for food and agriculture in 1932. He resigned in January 1933 when Adolph Hitler formed his cabinet.
Burial will take place Friday in Oberaudorf.
In addition to Wehner, von Braun is survived by two other sons, Sigismund, a West German diplomat, and Magnus, who is director of assembly plant and special sales of Chrysler International S.A., based in London.
