BEALS - Earl H. Peabody, age 85, went Home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 31 , 2015, with his loving family around him. He was born in Beals, Maine to Milford and Mary (A.B.Peabody) Alley, on December 4, 1929.
Earl graduated from Beals High School in 1949. He then received a BS in Education from Washington State Teacher's College in Machias (now UMM) and an MEd in Administration and Supervision from the University of Maine in Orono. Subsequent courses resulted in an equivalent Master's Degree in reading and special education.
Over the years, Earl lived and taught in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
He taught at the elementary, junior high, high school and college levels in public and private schools. He was in administration and supervision in both public and private schools.
Earl and his beloved wife, Sylvia (Lenfestey), were married on February 19, 1956, and enjoyed 59 years of love and adventure. They were blessed with two children: Cheryl Anita (Peabody) Szacik and Ronald Hilton Peabody. "Capt.Ron" went 'Home' on August 31, 2012. t Earl is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Cheryl and her husband Peter of Madbury New Hampshire; brother, Gleason Peabody of Waldoboro, Maine; sister & brother-in-law, Carolyn (Lenfestey) and Jon Gordon of Eliot, Maine; sister-in-law, Madelene Peabody of Veazie, Maine; several very special nieces and nephews; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Earl was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Hilton Peabody; his step-grandson, Craig Rochette; his parents, Milford and Mary (Alley) Peabody; a brother, Bertram Peabody; a nephew, Bertram Earl "Beppie" Peabody; a niece, Nadine Peabody; an infant niece, Ella Peabody; father-in-law, Farrell Lenfestey; and mother-in-law, Myrtle (Beal) Lenfestey.
During his working years, he was active in scouting. He was a member of the local Teacher's Association and NEA, serving as president of the Essex County Teacher's Association in Massachusetts. After retiring, he served as a member of the Board of Selectmen at Beals and a Founding member of the Beals Historical Society. He was also active on church boards wherever he lived. Earl served in a U.S. Army Military Police Company outside of Bordeau, France from 1952 till 1954. While serving there, he and his Company befriended a local orphanage. Earl's legacy will be the thousands of children who became part of his life.
Earl was a member of the Emmanuel Advent Christian Church in Rochester, New Hampshire. Over the years, he was active in Christian Education.

Funeral arrangements have been made by McClure Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 6th at the Beals' Wesleyan Church. Times will be 1:00-3:00pm for the community and 6:00-8:00pm for the immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00pm also at the Beals' Wesleyan Church. As Earl is to be cremated, there will be a short committal service at the church immediately following the funeral services. A gathering of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the Hillyard Building immediately following the services.
A memorial service will be held at the Emmanuel Advent Christian Church in Rochester, NH at a later date . Condolences and memories may be shared at www.mcclurefamilyfuneral.com.
