A Celebration of Life Service for Nellie Mae Griffies, 85, will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Nellie was born on August 12, 1936 in Rome, Georgia to Little Solomon Adams and Alice Mae Carnes Adams and passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Nellie was a resident of Shreveport and worked as a Bank Teller before retiring. She married her husband, Joe Griffies, in 1952. They were married for 63 years before his passing. Her family meant the world to her. Nellie loved spending time with them. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren brought much joy to her life. Earlier in life, she enjoyed dancing, bingo, bowling and swimming.

Nellie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; daughter, Debbie Grelk; son, Michael Griffies; grandson, Jesse Clayton Brown; granddaughters, Rachel Brown and April Brown Henderson; sisters, Mary Alice Adams Crowe, Leila Ann Adams and Willie Joan Adams.
