From Schaetter Funeral Home:

Sandra ("Sandy") (Smith) Jenkins (August 28, 1950 – August 3, 2022) went home to heaven to be with her Lord after a long and brave battle with cancer. Originally from Midland, TX, Sandy was a loving, caring, patient, and loyal daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother (Nanny).

Sandy and Rocky began dating in high school, and were married the summer after graduation, in 1968, and they were each other's only love for 54 years.

Sandy raised her family and instilled in them the lessons she learned from her parents: love and loyalty for family and friends, hard work, integrity, respect, and always family first. Sandy was so pleased that not only was she successful in her efforts with her own sons, but that her sons also worked hard to teach those same qualities and character traits to their own children.

Sandy always put family first. She loved to cook and was famous for her home cooking (from scratch!). She also enjoyed many of the skills and hobbies she learned as a child: gardening, canning fruits and vegetables, and sewing. Sandy made friends quickly and was a loyal friend to countless people all over the country. Sandy was always ready to open the doors of her impeccably clean home and prepare a homecooked meal for anyone in need or for friends and acquaintances who were just passing through.

Sandy was a gifted artist and designer, and she loved to do needlework, which became one of her favorite things to do. After moving to Fredericksburg in 1990, Sandy began hosting retreats, teaching and sharing her needlework skills and knowledge with others, and she opened a shop downtown—Sandy Jenkins Designs. Sandy truly enjoyed her needlework students and customers—all of whom would call Sandy a dear friend, and of course, her favorite was her time spent hosting her famous retreats.

For all who were fortunate enough to know Sandy Jenkins—especially her family and friends—she truly was the embodiment of the Fruit of the Spirit: "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control . . ." (Gal. 5:22-23), and Sandy demonstrated those traits on a daily basis to all who were lucky enough to encounter her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her loving parents, Nona and Billie Smith of Midland, TX. Sandy is survived by her dear husband, Rocky, her two devoted sons, Shane (Michelle) Jenkins and Brent (Esther) Jenkins of Boerne, TX, along with seven grandchildren (Colby Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, Zack Woody, Brittany Woody, Jagger Jenkins, Sophie Jenkins, and Talan Jenkins) and three greatgrandchildren (Austin, Addie, and Lynnlea), and three sisters (Gail McCall, Vickie Lipps, Jeannie Bailey, all of whom are Texans).

There will be a visitation on Monday, August 8th from 4 to 6 P.M. in the chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home, Fredericksburg and on Tuesday, August 9th from 9 to 10 A.M. in the chapel with a Funeral Service at 10 A.M.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery

Pallbearers: Colby Jenkins, Cameron Jenkins, Jagger Jenkins, Talan Jenkins, Zack Woody and Bill Gottschalk
