He was the son of
Allen and Hallie Mae Griffin
Charles grew up in Marshville and graduated from Marshville High School in 1956. He attended North Carolina State University and took the helm of Griffin Lumber Company in 1958.
Charles was a loving and supportive father with a generous spirit and spent his life helping others. He was an active community executive as Mayor, a deacon for the Marshville Baptist Church and esteemed business leader with multiple companies in Union County.
In his retirement, he worked tirelessly restoring antique cars for pleasure. His passion for cars started at the age of 16 with a Studebaker that he restored in his parents' garage. Charles was a mentor to many people who sought his wisdom and had a natural ability to teach. He will be remembered most as being kind, hardworking, humble, and benevolent.
Charles was preceded in death by his father Allen and his mother Hallie Mae. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sallie.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be at 2 PM, Sunday, August 7, 2022 from the graveside of Marshville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service by the graveside.
Morgan & Son Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Griffin.
