Stanley Thomas Woods
July 1, 1928 – February 6, 2020
Born July 1, 1928 in Salida Colorado to Homer Morris and Maude Agnes Dunlap Woods. His folks moved often until Stan was eight years old. They settled in a small company owned town, Uravan, Colorado. The company mined and milled vanadium and uranium. Stan's family moved to Grand Junction Colorado when Stan was fifteen years old. Stan graduated from high school. He enlisted in the US Army in August of 1946 and was honorably discharged in February 1948. Stan received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado A&M College in 1954. Stan received his Professional Engineers License January 27, 1971. Stan retired from the US Forest Service in January 1985.
On June 11, 1950 Stanley married Dixie Lee Yates. Together they had two daughters. The family moved to Missoula in 1961.
There were many happy hours spent camping, boating and snowmobiling at Seeley Lake MT. There was always a good crowd of friends in tow. The family all learned to waterski along with many friends.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Albert Morris and Wayne Keith, sister Norma Jean Cooper.
Survivors include a sister- in- law, 2 daughters and their husbands, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
