Sept. 16, 1954 Athens Weekly Review

Funeral services were held Friday 10 a.m. for *John M. CRISWELL, 89, who passed
away in a local hospital at 2:20 a.m. Thursday.

Services were held from the HASSELL and FOSTER Chapel with the Rev. L. D. ROSE
officiating and interment will be in the GOODGAME Cemetery. Pallbearers were Major
Jim MEREDITH, Jack MEREDITH, Jack CALHOUN, Raymond CRISWELL, Jim WILLIAMS and John WILLIAMS.

Mr. CRISWELL, a retired farmer was born in Ripley, Mississippi. He was the eldest of
eight children and the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph CRISWELL. Mr. CRISWELL
moved with his family to Coryell County, Texas, at the age of 12, and later came to
Henderson County where he had lived since. He was married to Miss Emma SELF on
May 25, 1893.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, *Mrs. Henry MEREDITH of Athens, and
*Mrs. N. B. NASH of Plainview; a sister, Mrs. Phoebe STOKES of Seminole, six
grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
