In Memory of Linda Marie Wagner, age 72, of Allison, Iowa, was born the daughter of Howard Elvin and Darlene Fern (Elliott) Wagner on January 25, 1950, in Hampton, Iowa. Linda grew up in the Bristow, Iowa, community and graduated with the Allison-Bristow Class of 1968. She went on to study cosmetology after high school, owning and operating Linda's Beauty Salon for many years. She later worked as a CNA/CMA and restorative aide for various health care facilities, sharing her love and compassion for others.
Linda was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Vilmar, Iowa. She enjoyed listening to church services online. Linda liked crocheting hats and mittens for her family and working crossword puzzles. In the last few years, she enjoyed reconnecting with her classmates for breakfast or lunch, sharing memories and laughter. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Linda was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed by all those who cherished her.
On Monday, August 1, 2022, Linda passed away at Waverly Health Center in Waverly, Iowa, of natural causes. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Hovenga in April 2021; her parents, Howard and Darlene Wagner; her stepfather, Darwin True; her grandparents, John & Ella Wagner and Olaf and Esther Elliott; and a brother, Dean Wagner.
Linda is survived by her son-in-law, Shannon Hovenga of Clarksville; two grandsons, Joshua (Rae) Hovenga of Clarksville and Collon Hovenga, of Clarksville; four great-grandchildren, Alexa, Emma, Mia and Natalie Hovenga; one sister, Judy (Jerry) Aukes of Allison; one sister-in-law, Barb Wagner of Greene, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
