Portland - Audrey Helen Bell was born on September 19, 1933 to Ellis and Hazel Young in Thomaston, Maine. She was a graduate of The New England Baptist Hospital, class of 1954. Audrey spent the length of her professional career as a registered nurse. While living in Bangor, ME, she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital on the medical surgical unit. She, along with her husband and three children, moved to Scarborough, ME in 1980. She retired from Maine Medical Center after 16 years. Audrey was, even after her retirement, the definition of a caregiver. She was a reliable, safe, and loving place for many people, and she never hesitated to lend her support.

Audrey and her husband, the late Lawrence Eber Bell, were active members of the First Baptist Church of South Portland. Audrey was a Deaconess, and served on the hospitality committee, organizing fellowship suppers for her fellow church goers. Outside of work and the church, Audrey loved gardening and playing golf. She enjoyed planting in her flower beds, and her garden was always beautifully maintained. She was a member of the Scarborough Garden Club, where at varying times she served as the club historian, secretary and president. She enjoyed golfing with her friends at Willowdale Golf Course.

Audrey and Larry loved to travel together. They traveled around the U.S., frequenting Florida in the winters, and took vacations to Europe as well. She enjoyed their trips to Hawaii and Alaska, where Audrey was impressed by the stunning views.

Audrey liked to bake and hosted countless, lively family dinners. Her family will miss her famous apple pies, her calm presence at the table, and her unexpected and hilarious wit. They will miss too many things about her to name here.
