Henry Miles, age 85, of Glenwood, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at his home.

He was born on May 7, 1922 at Winters, Texas, the son of John Jackson Miles and Iva Clayton Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Vira Miles whom he married on 29 Jun 1941 ; his son, Kerry Miles; and two grandchildren, Deandra and Jebadiah Crain.

Henry was a member and deacon of the Glenwood First Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and was a former councilman for the city of Glenwood. He was retired with Bird and Son where he worked for over 31 years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carmel Miles of Glenwood; six children and their spouses, Serenda and Donald Jordan of Benton, Leland Miles of Granite City, Illinois, Shelley and Mike Crain of Hot Springs, Gaylon Miles, Deanice and Dan Dollar, and Kelley and Stephanie Duggan all of Glenwood; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2007 in the Glenwood First Baptist Church with Bro. Erby Burgess, Bro. Kevin Smead and Bro. James Owens officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Joe Floyd Wright, Brett Wright, Raymond Whitehead, Jerry Lewis, Eugene Thrash, Derwood Mayo, Larry Mitchell and Tony Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Glenwood First Baptist Church, members of the Adult 4 Sunday School Class and co-workers of Bird and Son.
