Mr. Eliphalet Heath Owen, died at his home on South Maple street in this village at 4 o'clock on Wednesday morning, October 1, 1902, age 57 years, 9 month and 10 days. He had been in ill health for the past two years, but death resulted from apoplexy with which he was striken on Tuesday morning.
Mr. Owen was born in Middlebury, N.Y., on December 21, 1844, the son of Zenas H. and Climena Ludden Owen. On May 19, 1867 he was married to Miss Elma R. Ewell of Middlebury where they established their home and continued to reside until 1888 when they removed to Warsaw. Mr. Owen has been an active businessman, and an esteemed citizen. He served during the Civil War in Company E, 136th Regiment, New York Volunteers,
Mr. Owen is survived by his wife and six children; Miss Ada M. Owen, Mrs. Earl A. Brininstool of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. R.S. Gibbs of Keswick, Cal., Raymond E., Elmer E. and Ernest H. Owen of Warsaw.
The funeral will be held from the family residence at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Rev. A.S. Cole officiating, and with the G.A.R. ritual burial services. Warsaw Lodge, 549, F and A.M.; Wyoming Chapter, 181, R.A.M.; Crystal Salt Lodge, I.O.O.F. and Gibbs Post, G.A.R. of which organizations Mr. Owen was an influntial member, will act as escort.
