Edna C. "Dolly" Thompson, 95, of Louisville, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at The Waters of Clifty Falls.

She was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Jefferson County, the daughter of John A. and Alma Belser Eckert. She attended Hanover College and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She retired as secretary/treasurer of Waggener High School in the Jefferson County school system of Louisville, Ky., in 1975. She and her husband were the owners of an antiques store in Louisville, Ky. After purchasing the Joseph Abell House in Middletown, Ky., their home was placed on the National Register of Historical Places. She and her husband spent their senior years traveling, antiquing and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter, Harriet T. Courter of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, John H. Thompson of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Pauline Eckert Johnson of Madison; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Huxley Thompson, whom she married in 1937 and who died in March 1995; her parents; and one brother, John B. Eckert.

Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Ky.
