Hutchins, Robert A. "Hutch"
Ypsilanti, MI

Age 69, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was born January 6, 1950 in Ypsilanti, the son of Robert and Marion (Brown) Hutchins.

Hutch was employed by Ford Motor Company, Rawsonville plant for 37 years, retiring in 2008.

Hutch was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was kind, thoughtful and generous to all. He loved traveling to the ocean and took an annual trip with his family to Myrtle Beach and unforgettable memories were always made. He's had a close network of friends that date back to elementary school days that he kept in touch with regularly. They were more than just friends to him, they were extended family.

During his retirement years, he went to the Washtenaw Community College Fitness Center every day to swim and walk. He was an avid poker player and played several days a week in local games. He was a member of the Ann Arbor Bonsai Society and had several manicured bonsai trees that he kept on his deck. He's loved Bonsai trees since his time in Japan when he served in the U.S. Army. He had strong political views that he liked to debate with his lifelong friend Ed. He even participated in a political protest outside of Michigan Stadium where his photograph ended up in the Ann Arbor News.

Most importantly, Hutch enjoyed spending time with his family. He spent 47 adventurous years with his wife and love of his life Brenda, who passed away in 2017. He meant the world to his children, Jacqueline and John. He had an even more special place in his heart for his two grandsons, Alex and Cole. He visited Alex almost every day and taught him how to say many of his first words, including Papa, as he was known to his grandsons. Alex followed him around the house and would climb onto Papa's lap, pointing to the buttons on his shirt and reading books with him. He face-timed several times a week with his grandson Cole, watching him run and play and learn new things. His sister Jeanie, who passed away in 2016, was one of his very best friends and he missed her very much. He liked to take his dog Lucky for walks in the park and on car rides. He very much loved having Lucky around the house for companionship.

He is lovingly survived by his daughter, Jacqueline (Miguel) Garrido, son John (Marianne) Hutchins, two grandsons, Alex Garrido and Cole Hutchins and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Friday, March 15, 2019 at Stark Funeral Service with the funeral service being held 11 am Saturday, March 16 with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. The burial will take place 10:30 am Monday, March 19, 2019 at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, MI. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Ann Arbor Bonsai Society
