From Fredericksburg Funeral Home:

James was born in Dallas and grew up in Plano, Texas. He was the son of James Harrington, Sr. and Lorine Allen Harrington, and he was a descendant of the earliest Plano Pioneers. He graduated from Plano High School in 1956, where he played all sports, but was well-known as the "trombone player".

He married Carole Neely on September 4, 1959 in Plano, Texas, and they both graduated from The University of Texas in 1960, where he received a Pharmacy degree, as the third generation pharmacist in his family. He then went to Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, graduating in 1964, and after an internship in Seattle, Washington, completed a residency in Otolaryngology at The Ohio State University Hospital in 1969.

Following two years in the United States Air Force, James practiced medicine in Arlington, Texas, where he and Carole raised their three children and participated in the community. He served as a President of the Arlington Medical Society and AHS Band Boosters, led medical seminars, worked with numerous Texas Rangers, and served as an Elder at First Christian Church.

Jim loved to fish at Port Aransas, Texas and Creede, Colorado. Upon retirement in 2005, they moved to their property outside Fredericksburg, where he continued to build furniture and fix things, design their new home and spend time with new and old friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Neel Harrington. He is survived by his wife, Carole, his son, Silas Hall Harrington of Fredericksburg, his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Steve Johnson of Round Rock, Texas, and grandchildren Erin, Hannah, Lauren and Hunter Johnson. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvan Sigler and husband, E.A. of Colleyville, Texas, sister-in-law, Dee Dee Nolte and husband, Glenn of Austin, Texas, and six nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 from 4:00p.m. - 6:00p.m. at Fredericksburg Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held in the Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park 13005 Greenville Ave Dallas TX 75243 on Sunday, August 7, at 2:00 p.m.
