Christopher "Chris" Morrison, 55, of Newton, formerly of Tama, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 28, 2022. Celebration of Life at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home.

Christopher Cooley Morrison was born on June 29, 1966, the son of Jerry and Kathryn Mason Morrison. Chris met Tammy Wilson in 1990 and they were married on February 3, 2000, in Marshalltown.

Chris was a handyman and musician in many bands, including, Phantasy, Smokin Bone, and the MDL Band. Chris was very creative and artistic and enjoyed doing interior decorating projects. Chris was very funny and was known for his dry sense of humor. Everything he did in life was driven by his deep love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Chris is survived by his wife of 22 years, Tammy; children, Samantha (Jason) Bogue of Tama, Michelle Morrison (Rodney) of Steamboat Rock, Courtney (Tyler) Schulmeister of Whitten, Nichole (Jesse) Switzer of Marshalltown, Katlyn Morrison-Morgan (Alex) of Gladbrook, Ashley Morrison (Tim) of Gladbrook, and Christian (Haleigh) Morrison of Newton; grandchildren; his mother, Kathryn; and former wife and lifelong friend, Kim Morrison.

Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; stepfather figure, Darrell Peshel; his grandparents; and his cousin, Rick Mason.
