Bryan K. Long, 79, of Whitfield, passed away peacefully in the care of ProMedica Skilled Nursing, Sinking Spring, on July 27, after ten years of heart wrenching decline as a result of Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of Mary K. Long, with whom he would have shared 57 years of marriage and friendship on August 7. Born in West Reading on June 2, 1943, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Clara (Layser) Long of Robesonia.

Bryan graduated from Conrad Weiser High School in 1961, and Ursinus College in 1965 with a BS in Math. He began his career as a systems analyst at CNA Insurance and retired from Electronic Data Systems in 2005.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed working part time as an usher at the Reading Phillies and Reading Royals and as a driver for Caron Foundation.

He honorably served in the Army National Guard from 1965-1971.

Bryan enjoyed playing bridge, walking five miles a day, gardening, vacations in Florida to enjoy Spring Training, collecting sports cards, and dancing to rock and roll music from the fifties.

Bryan was a member of Advent Lutheran Church, West Lawn.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey B., of Las Vegas, and Michael A., of Hershey. He is also survived by his brother, Donald K. Long, husband of Diane; a sister, Jane K., wife of David Miller; a sister-in-law, Carol Koch; and seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sue (Long) Montgomery, and a brother, Gordon Long.

A celebration of Life will be held at Advent Lutheran Church in August at the convenience of the family. A date will be announced at a later time. Lamm and Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, is handling arrangements. Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery.
