MY GREAT AUNT
Vinetta was born in Magoffin County Kentucky on Rockhouse, the daughter of Benjamin Montgomery and Sarah Ellen Gillum and granddaughter of Miles Montgomery and Franky Cantrell. She first married Albert Howard and had her first child Ellen Howard in March 1896 before she was 17 in June. Vinetta and Albert were living with her parents, Benjamin and Sarah. She had another child while married to Albert, born in March 1900, a girl named Laura B. Howard. Vinetta and Albert divorced and her parents raised Ellen. On December 25, 1900 Vinetta married Ambers LeMasters, they had a son Golden Howard, that was a deaf mute and a daughter Kubie. Ambrose took son Golden and ran off with another woman. Vinetta and Ambrose then divorced. In 1907 Vinetta married John Milton Jenkins the son of William M. "Billy" Jenkins and Sarah Montgomery, and had five children; Edna Earl Jenkins, Myrtle Mae Jenkins, Bertie Alice Jenkins, Fonzie Jenkins and Cecil Jenkins. This was a happy marriage for 25 years. After John Milton died on August 5, 1932 their sons Fonzie and Cecil joined the CCC Corps and sent their mother money to live on for the next two years. In September 1934 Vinetta married Frank Delotell. They lived together for several years and divorced in the early 1940's. Before World War II ended she married John Franklin Jenkins son of Francis Marion Jenkins and Cynthia Phipps. They had a happy marriage until Vinetta died on May 5, 1953. John Franklin died the following July 1954. Vinetta is the sister of Hiram Montgomery, my Grandpa.
