Joseph Henry Hildebrand, 79, of Union Bridge, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.--Born Oct. 1, 1928 in Woodsboro, he was the son of the late Roger and Virginia Hildebrand.He was the husband of Virginia Baltzell Hildebrand, his wife of 35 years.
Mr. Hildebrand was formerly a farmer, and then was employed as a truck driver with Phillips 66 for most of his life, retiring in 1992. He loved working on his nephew's farm.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Rick Lantz of Denver, Colo.; granddaughter, Sarah Gray and husband, Steve, of Greer, SC..; step-children, JoAnne Bonifield of Lakeland, Fla., Peggy Mooney and husband, Gerry, of New Fairfield, Conn., Debbie Smith Castle, Leo Smith and wife, Dianne, Charlie Smith, Jennifer Williams and husband, Kevin, all of Frederick; step-grandchildren, Amy Castle and husband, Denny, Melissa Mowry and husband, Brad, Joseph Castle and wife, Melissa, Gerry Mooney Jr. and wife, Shannon, Nicholas Mooney, Emily Mooney, Rachel Williams; numerous step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Leroy Hildebrand and wife, Ellen, of Woodsboro, Doris Eyler of Walkersville, Nancy Trout and husband, Del, of Thurmont; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ann E. Gordon.
