Ruth M. Bloy, 85, Allouez resident, died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 29, 2022. She had been struggling with health issues and declining health especially in the last year. Ruth is at peace in the hands of her Lord and Savior, whom she held dear all the days of her life. She was born July 20, 1937, in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late William and Winifred (Adkins) Marrs. She attended Virgie High School graduating in 1957, maintaining the many cherished lifelong friends from high school. From there, as a single mother, she moved to Ohio with her son Greg. It was in Ohio where she met her second husband George Ott. Together they had two children, Christopher and Jennifer. In 1977 they moved to Green Bay and in 1987 lost their son to a brain tumor. In 1994 Ruth met the love of her life, Harlan Bloy. They were married on May 11, 1996, at Resurrection Catholic Church and shared 26 happy years together. Ruth served in numerous clerical positions in the area retiring from St. Vincent Hospital after 12 years. Following retirement Ruth and Harlan enjoyed traveling the United States. Ruth was a devout member of Highland Crest Baptist Church practicing a strong faith, which is how she brought up her family and how she lived her life. Ruth's family was her pride and joy, and she cherished all the time spent with them making memories for the generations to come. She is survived by her husband, Harlan, son, Greg Deatherage and daughter, Jennifer (Jeremy) Doucette; two stepdaughters, Julie Bloy and Kris (Brian) Finell; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law: Carmel Marrs; Janet Laes; Bonnie (Stan) Waslowski and Barbara (Ben) Cruz-Uribe; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Deatherage; son, Christopher Ott; five brothers and one sister; stepson-in-law, Jim Proebsting; her mother-in-law, Mabel DeGrave and brother-in-law, Larry Laes. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St. on Wednesday, August 3, from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5: 00 pm. Funeral Service 5:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Chad Hertler officiating. Burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to Ruth's family at www.prokowall.com. In lieu of floral expressions a memorial fund has been established. Ruth's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Unity Hospice.
