Kathy's kindness and friendship touched many lives. Always an independent, fiercely loyal, and much-loved daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend, Kathy's thoughtfulness and compassion brightened the lives of those around her. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or graduation with one of her legendary greeting cards - always signed with "I love you, Kathy." She was quick to help friends in need and she contributed to numerous charitable organizations throughout the years. Kathy created a quiet and comfortable life from her home in Lafayette and was blessed with a wide circle of friends there. For years, she enjoyed a weekly card game with friends and taking part in the city's many festivals and events. She loved her routines, from reading the newspaper every morning while drinking her signature cup of tea to watching the Saints play on Sundays. An avid reader from an early age, Kathy surrounded herself with books and especially enjoyed sharing her favorites with her nephew, Quinton. She was well-known for her intelligence as well as her quick wit and sharp sense of humor - characteristics that kept her always informed, young at heart and fun to be around. In addition to her Lafayette friends, Kathy remained close to many of her childhood friends from DeRidder and she called them often to catch up on their lives. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.
Kathy's ashes will be laid to rest beside her parents at a graveside service in DeRidder in the coming months. Memorial donations on Kathy's behalf may be made to The Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA, or to Autism Speaks at autismspeaks.org.
