Mae was the daughter of Horace Thorp and Catherine Dorsey Thorp. She was married to William "Val" Gould in about 1881 and had 6 children, Ford, Roy, Harry, Gladys, Adele and Helen. She was the grandmother of just one child Harry Norman Gould who was born to her son Harry W. and his wife Marie Lindsay Gould. She was a very beloved Grandmother called Mema by her grandson.
