Earl C. Keiser
GLENVILLE - Earl C. Keiser, 78, died Saturday January 26, 2008, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of Erma J. (Nace) Keiser, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on December 10, 2007.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church, 5152 Stone Church Road, Glenville, with his pastor, the Rev. Paula Murray, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jason Leader. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Mr. Keiser was born on September 28, 1929, in Manheim Township, a son of the late Urban F. and Jemima (Bortner) Keiser.
He retired from the Southwestern School District in 1995 where he was employed as a supervisor in the custodial department for over 10 years. Prior to that he worked as a machine operator with Black and Decker in Hampstead, Md. for over 22 years. He graduated from the Glenville Academy in 1947 and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the 169th Infantry with the 43 Division Tank Company. Earl was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of St. Jacob's Stone Church where he served as Treasurer of the Cemetery Association for many years. He also was a Scout Master with Troop 48 in Glen Rock and served on the Scout Committee of the Troop. He also was a member of the Running Deer Hunting Camp in Renovo and of the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen's Association. He was a craftsman, having been a woodworker and cabinet maker. He also enjoyed gardening and raising animals and livestock over the years. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and the mountains. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles Baseball Fan.
Besides his wife he leaves, three daughters, Leanna J. Keiser and Beverly A. Keiser, both of Glenville and Cindy L. Knox of Hellam; two sons, Earl E. Keiser of Glen Rock and Michael D. Keiser of Glenville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and a nephew.
