"Because of his residence in Kingstown, R.I., Thomas Briggs was listed as a son of John Briggs of Kingstown, R.I., by Austin in his 160 Allied Families. The above proof that Thomas Briggs of Kingstown and East Greenwich, R.I., was the son of Thomas2 (Clement1) Briggs of Taunton, Mass., and not the son of John1 Briggs of Kingstown, R.I., who left him no land.

"Thomas Briggs of East Greenwich, husbandman, (wife Martha signed for dower), grantor, to son-in-law, Samuel Gardener of East Greenwich, granted, '1/2 of my 90 acre farm the other half after my decease and the decease of my wife Martha...' 19 Mar, 1706/7...

"Thomas Briggs, yeoman, of East Greenwich, ...18 March, 1723...

"Thomas Briggs of East Greenwich, grantee...21 June 1739...
