John H. Adams, Sr., after illness of six months.
After months of suffering John H. Adams, Sr., died at his Salmon home last Tuesday at 10:30 AM April 26.
Funeral services will be held at the Doebler undertaking parlors tomorrow afternoon at 2pm Rev. C. A. Hawley to officiate. The pall bearers will be former friends and associates: Sam Moore, Frank Hall, Sr., Charles W. Temple, J.M. McPherson, William Kadletz and A. C. Merritt.
Mr. Adams was a pioneer prospector of Lemhi County and has lived here for thirty years. He was born in La Morganshire,{Glamorgan?},Wales, October 31,1860, and came to the United States with his parents when but an infant.
He was one of the first pioneer prospectors to own and help open up some of the mines which are now developing this county. Among them is the Hormany which he later sold to William Burrage; the Gold Dyke on Carmen Creek and others.
Since last November he has been a great sufferer, having chronic disease of the kidneys. Early in February, with his eldest son,he sought relief in a Butte hospital, but was not benefitted. Although a great sufferer he was patient and kind to every one, always enjoying requent visits with his many old time friends who came to cheer and visit. Although ill for so long he was not bed fast.
Surviving relatives who deeply mourn his loss: A beloved wife who has faithfully nursed and cared for him; tow sons, John H.,Jr; James H of Salmon; and five daughters, Mrs. O.D. Crippen, Kelso, Wash.,who is expecated to arrive today for the funeral services; Mrw. H.T. Renau of Bonner, Mont., who but recently returned to her home after being here six weeks to comfort and care for her father and will not be able to attend the funeral services' Mrs.Bessie Hixon, Mrs. Floyd Hixon and Mrs. Frank Kerin, all of Salmon. Five children, two boys, Clem and Irvin; and three daughters, Stella, Sarah and Myrtle, have passed on to await his coming in the spirtual world. A host of friends join the sorrowing relatives in the last tokens of respect and love.
