Hon. I. Sam Johnson of Warsaw died very suddenly Tuesday afternoon, aged nearly 66 years. Mr. Johnson was a soldier in the Civil War, belonging to the 136th New York Volunteers. He was district attorney of Wyoming county for six years and one of the most prominent attorneys in Western New York. was a member of Assembly from Wyoming county for two terms and was prominent in the legislature for his advocacy of tax reform measures.

There is another obituary in the Wyoming Reporter, dated Oct. 3, 1906 which is quite lengthy but I have typed some of it here: Death resulting from neuralgia of the heart. Son of Hiram and Jane Slade Johnson and was born in Centerfield, NY. Studied in Warsaw Academy and Genesee Wesleyan Seminary to study law. In May 1864 he was admitted to the bar. Married in May 1865 to Miss Mary McFarland of Ohio who survives him. Held many different positions and jobs.
