Son of James Robert Cross and Inez Pritchett Cross. He first retired from Jefferson Mills with thirty years of service and later from Ten Cate'. He attended New Beginnings Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bobby Dwayne Cross and Harold Robert Cross; and sister, Joyce O'Dillon. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hackett Cross of Jefferson; two sons, James Donald Cross, II (Nina) of Lexington, NC, and John Robert Cross of Jefferson; daughter, Amanda Lynn Cross of Maysville; grandchildren, Brent and Kyle Wilkes, James, and Bradley Cross, and Annie Jane Cross; and three sisters, Linda Langford, Jane Pruitt, and Debra Elaine Benton.
