Lewis Edgar (Eddie) Higgins, Jr., age 78, of Alleghany Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was born January 24, 1944 in Covington, Virginia to the late Lewis E. Higgins, Sr. and Rosa Clarke Higgins.

He was a retired truck driver for Garten Trucking, VDOT, and Byer, Harmon, Johnson. He loved driving trucks and riding his motorcycle. When he wasn't on the road, you could find him working on cars with his son, Ruben.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Dawn Higgins; and a brother, Odie "Sonny" Higgins.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Angle Higgins of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Beverly McClung and husband, Bobby Joe, Melenie Riley and husband, Scherrile; a son, Ruben Higgins and wife, Lisa; three sisters, Nellie Bess, Faye Nicely, Kathy Moore (Ham Agner); a brother, Harold Wayne Higgins and wife, Pam, all of Covington; five grandchildren, Chuckie Hall (Kailey Thompson), Jennifer Riley (Shane Kincaid), Megan Sizemore (Richard Hanna), Faith Weirich, and Hope McClung; five great grandchildren, Jackson Hoke, Owen Weirich, Tyler Kincaid, Myron Hall, Cyrus Hall; a number of nieces and nephews and his special companion, Lucky.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
