George Albert Ragan, age 77, of Hopkinsville, passed away at 6:15pm, on July 27, 2022, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center after a courageous fight against cancer. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, August 1, 2022, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home Hopkinsville and burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home Hopkinsville from 12:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, August 1, 2022. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Mr. Ragan was born February 20, 1945, in Dickson County, TN the son of the late James and Daisy B. Nelson Ragan. Raised as a farm boy in Todd County, KY, George went on to serve in the US Army and was a proud veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from the CSX railroad after 38 years of service as a machinist. George was a loving family man and devoted Christian. Always ready with a joke to entertain, George never met a stranger and always served his neighbors as called to by the Bible. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Ann Johnson; and his brother, Henry Allen Ragan.
