Lou as she was called had the distinction of having a town named after her. She did not care for that and the town was changed to Dresden and later Gene Autry, Oklahoma. She is the niece of Winchester Colbert.

Thanks to Doug Williams for the transfer of Louisa's memorial on December 28, 2015.

Louisa's parents were:
Martin Vann & Louisa Elizabeth "Elsie" Colbert. They were Chickasaw Indians.

She may have been their only child, although she had several half brothers and sisters. One of the half brothers was Willie Colbert. Louisa was also a niece of Governor Winchester Colbert.

On Aug. 19, 1877, Louiza (Colbert) Humes and Charles Wesley Henderson were married by Jesse E. Walker, Minister of the Gospel of M.E. Church south.

Louisa had been married twice before marrying Charles. Earlier marriages were to Mr. McClure and Mr. Humes. She had a son, Buck (Judge Buck Humes) Humes who died on July 11, 1900.

She & Charles settled in the Washita River area where he called his land Henderson Flats. Charles built the first store in the area just north of the old Washita River bridge, which was the beginning of the town of "Lou," named in honor of his wife

Louisa & Charley's children were:

1 Elsie Louisa 1878 – 1972 married John Mulkey, the builders and original owners of the Mulkey Hotel in Ardmore
2 Charles Colbert 1882 – 1959

4 Lou Ella Mae 1891 - 1911
5 John Thomas 1894 – 1958
6 Addie Ruth 1897 – 1906
7 Lena Thelma
