With deep sadness, the family of Sidney Marshall (Sid) Patterson announce that he passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at the Brucelea Haven Long Term Care Home in Walkerton in his 99th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Joy Patterson, nee Cumming. Loving father of Leonard Patterson and wife Carole of Port Dover, Marshall Patterson and partner Glenis Vardy of Kincardine, Pam Wettlaufer and husband Bob of Ottawa and Andy Patterson and wife Karen of Kitchener. Also survived by his grandchildren Chad, Tony, Steven, Benjamin, Tegan and Brieanne and 3 great grandchildren Halley, Rhian and Owen. Born in Elderslie Township in 1922, attended school at SS#8 Williscroft, joined 1st Canadian Para Troop Battalion 1942 and married Joy in 1944. After the war, he attended OAC in Guelph and returned to farm in 1948. The family moved to Paisley in 1959 where he worked for Cumming Equipment and later his own Chainsaw Sales and Service business until retirement. He was an avid sportsman, coach, referee and umpire, enjoying sports like hunting and fishing, hockey, soft ball, curling, golf, lawn bowling, horseshoes, crokinole, euchre and many others. No celebration of life is planned at this time due to the COVID pandemic. Memorial donations can be made to the Paisley Legion Branch # 295.
