Karen was born on January 2, 1949, in Yukon, WV, and was the daughter of the late Champ Stone and Pearlie Waters Stone. She worked 30 years in the communications industry for GTE, Frontier, and Verizon. She was mostly proud of the career she maintained after retirement of being a caretaker for many special people who became dear to her heart. She found great joy in singing with her husband and their singing group of friends, along with being with her family, especially her great grandchildren, Isabella Collins, Tripp Collins, Eben Martin, Bennett Martin, and Billy Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Stone and Gary Stone, Sr., of Tazewell, VA.
She is survived by those to cherish her memory:

Those additionally left to cherish her memory are her stepdaughter, Barbara Johnson; sister-in-law, Cecelia Stone Laney; special cousin, Cindy Hodges; special niece, Beth Stone; and several nieces and nephews.
Special friends: Marilyn Justus, Russell and Delilah Clark, Bucky and Terry Dunford, Lorraine Browning, Bill and Norma Phillips, Debbie and Craig Mangus, Patty Nunley, Bruce and Sue Richardson, Jerry and Betsy Breedlove, and numerous others that have visited the home regularly, for whom the family is eternally grateful.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at the family home where she will find her eternal resting place in the Earls Family Cemetery.
