Oklahoma City – Ernest Ray Cochran, 82, passed away on July 25, 2022, in Oklahoma City. Ray was born on January 14, 1940, in Kentucky to Ishmael and Fannie Cochran. He grew up in Ohio and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1958. Ray was a beloved son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved very deeply and was very loved and will be missed very much by his family. On April 23, 1960, he married the love of his life, Doris (Jordan), in Kentucky; they recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. They had two children, Charles and Sherry. He loved sports, especially baseball and basketball. He loved the Cincinnati Reds since he was a kid and followed the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team.

He retired in 2000 after 41 years of dedicated employment with Ralston Purina. He spent his spare time golfing, traveling, and spending time with family.

Ray was predeceased by his parents; brother, Jimmy; daughter-in-law, Callie Cochran; brothers-in-law, Frank Young and Jack Jordan; sisters-in-law, Mae Hicks and Gracie Garland. He is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Charles; daughter, Sherry Schmees and husband Rick, Oklahoma City; sister, Fay Young, Hamilton, Ohio; grandchildren, Laura Walter, Wesley Cochran and fiancé Liz Humpula, Mary Cochran, and Jamieson Schmees; great-grandchildren, Evan and Max Walter. Ray is also survived by brothers-in law, Luke, Daryl, Derrick, and Patrick; sisters-in-law, Sandy, Joyce, Carolyn, Callie, Barbara and Charlotte. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

Pallbearers will be Rick Schmees, Wesley Cochran, Patrick Jordan, Bill Fleming, Kirk Killian and Larry Sells.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 29th at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany from 4-8 with the family there from 6-8. Funeral will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Putnam City Baptist Church, 11401 N. Rockwell Ave. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude in his name, an organization he dearly loved.
