Dr Hugh Arnold Bryant, Civilian Surgeon, attached to the Royal Army Medical Corps. Son of Thomas and Adelaide Louisa Bryant. He was baptised on 1 May 1867 at St Margaret Lothbury with St Christopher le Stocks and St Bartholomew by the Exchange, London, England. He trained at Guy's Hospital 1886-1892, and took the double qualification of the Conjoint Board in 1892 (M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P.). He volunteered for service in South Africa during the Second Anglo Boer War. He died of enteric fever at Bloemfontein on 7 Jun 1900. He is also commemorated on the Guy's Hospital Boer War memorial drinking fountain at Guy's Hospital, Southwark, London (see: https://www.angloboerwar.com/forum/17-memorials-and-monuments/28703-guy-s-hospital-southwark-london).
