Joanne L. Schoon (Taylor) went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 24, 2022.

She is now singing with the angels and with her loved ones who have gone before her. Her life ended as she wanted: in her home, surrounded by family. Born March 4, 1939, in North Judson, IN. to Glenn and Norene Taylor. She attended Hanna High, where she became friends with Esther Webb; their friendship has stood the test of time & distance for all these years.

She found the love of her life at the age of 15. Arthur and she married on Sept. 4, 1954, at the Ross Baptist Church in Calumet Township, IN; where they became members. They have spent 67+ years together providing a stable home for their children & setting an example on how to be good, loving, respectful and God loving people. She was a Sunday School teacher of the 4-5 year-old class and VBS director for many years. Her tremendous love of children was shown in these years of service. Some called her Grandma Schoon; however, she was respectfully called Top Sergeant for keeping control in the classroom.

Her love of baking & for feeding crowds was boundless. Her decorative roll out seasonal cookies are known across many states. She loved camping, fishing, gardening, crocheting and diamond painting.

Visitation will be at Hillside Funeral Home, 8941 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322 on Monday, August 1, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Service will start at 12:00 p.m. followed by graveside service at Ridge Lawn Cemetery.
