Funeral services, with Mass of Requiem at the Church of St. Peter the Apostle were held yesterday morning for Mrs. Jennie Flores Avila, 71, who died at the home of her daugher, Mrs. Edith I. Serpa, 12 Washington Avenue, Sunday night after a long illness. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Mrs. Avila was born in Provincetown, a daughter of the later Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Flores, and received her education in the local schools. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Peter the Apostle and a member of the St. Joseph Society. Her husband, the late Carlos Avila, died in June, 1952.
Members of the St. Joseph Society met at the late home Tuesday night for recitation of the Rosary.
Two daughters survive, Mrs. Serpa with whom she made her home, and Mrs. Mary Sawyer, both of Provincetown; also a brother, John Flores of Rye, N. Y., nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
