Obituary
Susie Theresa Cornelia Baker Harrison

Susie Harrison passed away on Saturday, January 13th, 2018, at the Heritage Village Nursing Center in Holdenville, OK. The youngest of eleven children, Susie was born on February 17, 1923, in Bethany, OK, to the late Stewart and Mary Chearcy Baker. She married Eugene "Gene" Harrison on July 29, 1942, in Flint, Michigan.

Susie had a heart for others, spending her life focusing on her seven children and helping them be successful in their chosen areas of interest. She spent several years working with the Girl Scouts in Wilburton, OK and the Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls Associations in Wewoka, OK. She also gave her time to the Seminole County Council of Mentally Retarded Children, acting as their President in the early 1960's and she taught Sunday School at the local Assembly of God church.

When she and her family relocated to Portland, OR Susie continued to find ways to serve others.
She was the President of the VFW Auxiliary Post 81 Mt. Hood in Portland, OR, and served as the Sunday School Department Superintendent at First Assembly of God, Portland, OR. Susie taught weaving and sewing groups at Evangel Temple Church of Portland, and was a quilting group leader, as well. She also volunteered for " Loaves and Fishes," acting as a cook to prepare meals and a driver to deliver those meals to local shut-ins.

When she and Gene returned to Oklahoma in 1979, Susie immediately took up where she had left off, helping to open the Senior Citizen Center in Cromwell, OK, and serving there for three years. Being back in Oklahoma also allowed her to enjoy one of her favorite pastimes: attending Oklahoma Sooner football games.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years; her son Raymond Harrison of Portland, OR; and her son Jimmy Harrison of Pendleton, OR.

Susie is survived by daughter Mary and Rick Gantt, of Wewoka, OK; daughter Carol and Randy Schaff of St. Helens, OR son Rick and Lucy Harrison of Center Point, OR son John Paul and Louise Harrison of Dundee, OR; and daughter Peggy and John Smith of Holdenville, OK.

Susie was affectionately known as "Gram" by all of the grandchildren she leaves behind including Ken and Michele Harrison of Portland, OR; Kat and Russell Kanning of Frost, TX; Brianne "Breezy" and Eric Nelson of Portland, OR; Lindsey Harrison of Portland, OR; Rita and Noah Wilker of Norwalk, CT; Tracey and Jimmy Reynolds of Mt Pleasant, TX; John Weldon, Jennelle Johnson, and Jeremy and Kim Schaff of St Helens, OR; Vic and Laura Harrison of Prineville, OR; Daleena Harrison and Maureen McNurney of Redmond, OR; Teresa Harrison and Bonnie Harrison of Dundee, OR; Jennifer and Mike Morphis of Boswell, OK; Mark and Nesha Olney of Holdenville, OK.

Great grandchildren include Jacob, Layne, Gunner, Julian, Sasha, Trace, Avery, Sydney, Kevin, Haley, Abby, Maddie, Lily, Maddie, Emily, Hannah, David, and Josh, and one great great granddaughter, Aaliyah.

Funeral service will be 2:00p.m. Thursday January 18, 2018, at the Holdenville Assembly of God Church and interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
