Karen Joyce Scarbrough, age 76 of Delton, passed away on November 2, 2021. Karen was born on July 6, 1945 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Oakley and Natalie (Jansen) Bailey. Karen was the equalization director for Barry County for 30 years, retiring in 2012. She was a 1963 graduate of Galesburg-Augusta High School and was a member of the alumni association that regularly planned class reunions. Karen enjoyed flowers, gardening, decorating, traveling with her best friend, Deanie, golf, and reading. She loved being pampered and could often be found watching her favorite TV shows, The Andy Griffeth Show and The Waltons. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family. Karen is survived by her husband, John Scarbrough; daughter, Paula Scarbrough; grandchildren: Ryan Green and Nathan Green; brother: Norman (Carol) Bailey; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Rick) Brown, Kari (Mark) Brummel; Ken (Jan) Fouts; and Marcia (Chris) Boettcher; seven grand nieces and nephews; best friends: Deanie and Joe Woodie, Rod Crothers; and several aunts and cousins. Karen was preceded in death by her parents in 2011; daughter, Donna Scarbrough Green; and good friend, Pam Wofford. Karen's family will receive friends on Saturday, November 13, 2021, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, where her memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM.
