Mr. Morris was born in Greenville to the late Lemmie Melvin "Shorty" Morris and Clara Gardo Morris. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Kemet Electronics. Jerry was a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church where he served on the cemetery committee, missionary support and as an usher. He loved food and was particularly proud of his tomato garden.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Rick Morris; a daughter, Tracy Beckwith with husband Mark; a sister, Geraldine Kenemer with husband David; three grandchildren, Brooke Davis with husband Tyler, Hunter Beckwith with fiancé Alex Walach, and Austin Morris; and seven nieces, Debbie Stewart, Kim Thorton, Carole Sosebee, Tammie Roach, Tonya Morris, Kim Black, and Lori Diddle. He was predeceased by a brother, Ted Morris.
A Celebration of Jerry's Life, with military honors, at Standing Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
