Luvyetta Glaze, daughter of Adam and Miranda Glaze was born in Greenwood County. Kansas, July 4, 1860. Her parents were among the earlist settlers in Greenwood County, and she was the first girl and second child born in the county, a boy having been born in the previous January. He entire life has been spent in this county.

September 1, 1878, she was united in marriage to H.C. Lockwood. To this union eleven children were born. Three children, two girls and one boy preceded the mother in death.

Mrs. Lockwood made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and united with the Elm Street Baptist Church in Eureka by baptism July 30, 1899, where she has been a member since.

The husband and eight children; Mortimer, Wm. Dow, Mrs. Minnie Samuels, Alonzo, Henry, and Mrs. Bernice George, all of Eureka, and Mrs. Laura Lewis of Wichita, remain to mourn her loss. She has two brothers, Edwin Glaze and Lafayette Glaze, of Eureka, and Mrs. Eliza Watson, of Wichita.

Mrs. Lockwood died February 25, 1930, aged 69 years, 7 months and 21 days.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, Wednesday, February 26th. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
