Betty J. (Herr) Rhoad, 97, passed away, Friday, July 15, 2022 at Arden Courts, Harrisburg. Betty was the wife of the late, Mark Rhoad for 58 years, and daughter of the late Ross B. and "Mayme" (Boyer) Herr.
Until the last two years of her life, Betty was a lifelong resident of Bellegrove (Annville), Lebanon County. Following graduation from Annville High School in 1942, she completed a 2-year program at Lebanon Business College. She worked for over twenty years as a secretary to officers at Fort Indiantown Gap. As a faithful Christian, she was very involved in her church, Palmyra Brethren in Christ, as a Sunday School teacher and Pioneer Girls leader for several years.
Along with her husband, Betty was devoted to her family, raising four children who survive her: Brenda Brokaw, Fredericksburg, VA; Dennis (Bonnie) Rhoad, Steelstown; Randy (Denise) Rhoad, Chesapeake, VA; Rebecca (Brad) Haws, East Earl. She was also preceded in death by a beloved son-in-law, John G. Brokaw, III. She was a proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Betty was very close with her 8 siblings, Rev. Russell Herr, Rev. Lloyd Herr, Lester Herr, Sterling Herr, Ruth Herr Mumma, Ross Herr, Jr., Mary Herr Yorty, and Glenn Herr, and was an endeared aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Friday July 22, 2022 from 1:30PM – 2:30PM at Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory in Annville with a service to follow at 2:30PM.
Betty's quick wit and sense of humor, great Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, and devotion to those she loved will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind, while welcomed with open arms by her Lord in Heaven.
