Actor. He is recognized as an American actor of the 20th century. Born into an Italian household to Angela Maria Mattea Renzi and Fortunato Sorvino, he attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Making his Broadway debut, he appeared in the 1964 musical "Bajour" and in 1970, he had a role in his first film "Where's Poppa?" After that, he appeared in a long list of cinematic and television roles of character of authority that included portraying Henry Kissinger in "Nixon" in 1995, "Dick Tracy" in 1990, "Reds" in 1981 and "The Rocketeer" in 1991. His signature roles included mob boss Paul Cicero in "Goodfellas" in 1990 and a performance on the long-running police drama series "Law & Order." He received a Tony nomination for his role in "That Championship Season." Sorvino founded the Paul Sorvino Asthma Foundation. At the age of 83, he died at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He was the father of three children including actress Mira Sorvino from his first marriage.
