Loretta Stevens, nee Moritz, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2015. For 55 years, Loretta was the dearly loved wife of John E. Stevens (Jack), who preceded her in death in 2002. Loretta was dearly loved by her five daughters, Diane Pennel, Linda Englund, Karen Ratliff, Donna Stevens and Mary Stevens, and the fond mother-in-law of Gayle Pennel, Dean Englund, John Ratliff, Michael Donohue. She is the grandmother of Paul, Casey, Graham, Kate, Nora, John, Shannon, Jay, Alon, Chandra, Maddy and Anna; and great-grandmother of eighteen. Born on March 14, 1923 in Chicago, daughter of Herman and Emma Moritz, Loretta raised five daughters, volunteered extensively in her parish church and school, and worked as a bank teller and for newspapers for many years. After retiring, she played tennis and golf, was a long time volunteer at Northwest Community Hospital, sang in senior choir, all with her husband Jack by her side. Mom loved to dance and enjoyed it throughout her life: at USO's during WWII, at church dances, in square dance clubs, and in her senior community home. Loretta spent her life as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mom, we know you are already with dad, dancing happily and peacefully, now and for always. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 17 at 10 am at St. David's Episcopal Church, 2410 Glenview Road, Glenview.
