James Edward Odom Sr, a resident of Dothan, Alabama died Sunday, July 24, 2022, at his home. He was 84.

Funeral Services will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Bean and Reverend Jason Odom officiating. Burial will be immediately following the service in Memory Hill Cemetery with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1PM to 2PM at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Mr. Odom's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Mr. Odom was born on February 27, 1938, to the late Dalton and Ruby Handley Odom. He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years before his retirement after 40 years with Alabama Power, 28 of those years was served at the Farley Nuclear Plant. He enjoyed golf, softball, hard work, and teaching vacation bible school. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for 49 years. Mr. Odom was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His most precious times were spent with his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Odom Jr; a grandson, Shawn Odom; a granddaughter, Aimee Waller; and a brother, Howard Odom.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, two sons, a daughter, two brothers, a sister, six grandchildren, one great grandson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
